All good wedding stories have a beginning, a middle and an end. Virginie and Audren’s story began 20 years ago – so I guess I met them somewhere in the middle of their wedding journey.
Colette from Mood Events put me in touch with the couple, who would be holding their wedding in Hydra in the last Saturday of May with their very close family and friends. As with so many of my couples they liked that my images were natural, free and not posed – just a natural capture of the wedding day as it unfolded.
I was woken on Saturday morning by the thunder, and the sound of the rain on the cobbled paths of Hydra. By 9 am the rain had stopped, the clouds were clearing, and the sun was almost out. It was going to be a good day! After walking up through the village (their are no cars on the island – paradise :-)) I arrived at the villa where Virginie and Audren were getting ready. Intimate atmosphere, lovely details – simple yet elegent and of course the wonderful Didou.
The ceremony itself took place on the beautiful veranda of the Hydrea Hotel overlooking the picturesque port of Hydra. After the wedding vows were exchanged, the rings passed on the fingers, the couple and their friends enjoyed champagne, finger food and moments making klicks on the fuji instax – a great little camera for making instant prints.
A walk around Hydra for making some portraits with Virginie and Audren, followed by more cocktails and a wonderful candlelit dinner at the Sunset Restaurant in Hydra.
It was a wonderful wedding, in a beautiful setting. One more “wedding island” off the “bucket list”. Its become a kind of personal project to shoot weddings on as many different Greek islands as possible – so if you are planning to get married on a Greek island – on or off the beaten track … drop me a line … lets talk.
