When Valentina first sent me details of their wedding in Castello Odescalchi di Bracciano (www.odescalchi.it) it was like a dream come true. After all it’s not everyday you get to capture a wedding in the same place that Tom Cruise married Katie Holmes were married. Upon arriving in Rome I was met by Valentina’s dad, Fulvio (such kind hospitality) for a trip down to the lake to check out the castle.

We were shown around by the lovely Sanda – the castle was just amazing – really a fairytale setting.

After lunch by the lake – we made the 40 minute drive back to Rome for some rest before venturing into the old town of Rome for aperitivos and for meeting with the couple, Valentina and Mirko, and their friends.

The next day was wedding day. Everything was arranged down to a tee. The bride and groom preparations in the stately rooms of the castle. The walk through the castle grounds to the village cathedral and the beautiful ceremony. Its funny that even though the language is different, as a destination wedding photographer you can still feel the spirituality of the service. Just amazing and beautiful.

After the ceremony we made our way to the peak of the castle for making Valentina and Mirko’s portraits, before we joined the other guests for cocktails in the secret garden. Dinner … well no words there 🙂

The end of dinner – well it was hard for guests to not watch the UEFA semi finals – Italy vs Germany. Come on – the guests were (mostly) Italian :-). An unfortunate result (penalties) did not dampen the atmosphere for long. Amazing desserts, live band and dj in the grounds of the castle and a crowd that partied till the early hours …. fueled by simply delicious late night pizza.

Did I mention that I love my job 🙂
