A Chios wedding – authentic, wild, and so very very picturesque, with many beautiful beaches, medieval mountain villages, great food, lovely people. Lets not forget the unique masticha with all its fine qualities too. Chios offers such an authentic Greek experience. Defintely worth considering if you are planning a destination wedding in Greece.
It is no wonder then that so many people who visit Chios once, come again and again. They make this their ‘holiday” island of choice. It was one of these couples that Joanna Loukaki introduced to me. Joanna is a destination wedding planner based in Chios but her work takes her all over Greece.
As a wedding photographer from Chios, I was thrilled to be able to share their wedding day in the picture perfect venue and seaside chillout Oz Bay.
C&M came from France for their dreamy, relaxed wedding – just as travelling was begining to come back into our lives post pandemic. Their beautiful houses near the fishing village of Kataraktis hosted their very informal and relaxed preparations with their families and very close friends.
It was then off to Oz Bay where Joanna had prepared a beautiful beach front chuppah for their ceremony and vow exchange. Their was laughter, tears of joy, smiles allaround, and joy to be breathing the sea breeze. The historic white church of Ag. Isidoros (patron saint of Chios) and host to so many Orthodox weddings provided an idyllic backdrop to the ceremony.
The Dinner Reception
Post ceremony refreshments served from a rustic, elegant seaside buffet with glorious elements of local greenery – olives and lemons. The refreshments served by Oz Catering were as always divine and so needed under the afternoon sunset.
The set up for dinner and speeches was perfect with tones of Mediterranean Blue, Olive Green and famous Chios landmarks for table settings. Dinner followed in a relaxed, informal atmosphere. The Oz Cocktail Van provided the perfect French touch to the evenings shenanigans with tailormade cocktails for the couple and guests.
